More about Kelsey:
I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (go Badgers!) with a degree in Personal Finance. After graduation, I moved down to Austin, Texas where I began my first real world job. I absolutely love what I am doing and I am constantly learning new things. Not only do I get to teach others about personal finance issues, I also get to manage the social media efforts for my work. Shortly after I moved to Austin, I adopted two little dogs, a wiener dog named Teddy, and a terrier mix named Ozzy.

Why did you start blogging?
I never really knew much about blogging until my sophomore year of college. I decided to start a blog about running and working out. I found a great running community online and found myself enjoying sharing my struggles and successes with strangers (even though my friends don’t understand this concept). Then, I began a blog with my favorite quotes. Now I read blogs about fitness, finance, and celebrity gossip and enjoy sharing experiences and advice online.

What do you think is the most important personal finance issue for our generation?
I think the most important personal finance issue for our generation is debt. Not just credit card debt, but also student loan debt, mortgage debt, car loan debt, etc. All of our overspending and debt will come back and haunt us at some point, probably in retirement when we realize we don’t have nearly enough saved as we need. Our generation needs to understand the concept of spending within our means and learning to save instead of spending everything.

What do you do in your free time?
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, reading, working out, and relaxing. I am constantly trying to keep my apartment clean, with very little success. I also enjoy catching up with my friends back home and hanging out with new ones here in Austin. When it's warm outside (which is pretty much all the time), I enjoy sitting outside on my porch or by the pool and reading.

What are your personal financial goals?
Right now, I have a lot of financial goals. One is to pay down my car and student loans. I also want to start contributing to my Roth IRA. I've been putting it off out of laziness and it's time I start practicing what I preach. Long term, my main goal is to continue to have a job I love, that pays me enough money to live comfortably, and at the same time, still have the ability to enjoy my life.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
After graduation, I took a three week tour of Europe, knocking off a lot of places I've always wanted to visit, including Greece. The next place I want to travel to is Australia and New Zealand. Also, I've really been wanting to go on a tour of South America. There are so many places I would love to see, such as Machu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands, Argentina, Angel Falls in Venezuela, and more. I love to travel and hope to be able to do more in the near future.
