Another Move?

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I found my new apartment and signed the lease. I’ve (for the most part) enjoyed living here, but in a couple months I’ll receive my lease renewal notice.

Although I’m not sure, I have a feeling my rent is going to increase and that I’ll probably need to move again. I’ve noticed a high amount of turnover in the apartments near me and around the complex. I’ve also heard some of my neighbors talking about the rent increase and why they were moving out.

If I really think about it, I’d be alright with moving. The extra mileage and time it takes me to get anywhere is starting to annoy me. So is the extra traffic I have to deal with during rush hours. I also don’t like not having a washer and dryer in my apartment and I’ve noticed that the walls are quite thin around here.

When I get my lease renewal notice, I’ll need to compare how much the increase will cost me and compare it to how much it will cost me to move, pay a new pet deposit, and all that fun stuff. If I want to move closer to work and the city, I’ll also need to either pay a little more or be accepting of a smaller space.

I didn’t plan to move every year, but with the high rent prices in Austin, I might find myself moving more often than I’d like. Maybe I should consider buying a home…
