Young Adults in Credit Unions

Name: Candace
Age: 23
Job title: Marketing Manager
Credit Union: Hartford Federal Credit Union
School graduated from: Eastern Connecticut State University and the Credit Union Development Educator program (CUDE)

What’s your job like?
I am the marketing manager for my credit union. That means I develop marketing materials, give presentations about the credit union to people in the community, create the quarterly newsletter that goes out to all of our current members, introduce the credit union to potential members, and a whole bunch more! I love my job because I get to get out of the office a lot and interact with people.

How much did you know about credit unions before you started working at one?
I had never even heard of a credit union before I started working for one. When I first started I thought that a credit union was just the same as a bank. The CEO at the previous credit union I worked for took the time to teach me everything about the credit union world.

What did you want to be when you were a kid, and why?
Well, I wanted to be a nurse because I like helping people. But then I realized that it probably wouldn’t be a good job for me… since I can NOT stand the sight of blood!

If you only had one opportunity to travel, where would you go?
Australia!

Where did you grow up?
East Windsor, CT
