Easy Summer Fundraiser Ideas
If you’re involved with a community organization or have kids in extracurricular activities, chances are you’re often getting involved with fundraisers. While many organizations take the summer off, that doesn’t mean the fundraising season has to end. In fact, there are many fundraising ideas perfect for the summer weather that can benefit your organization.
Some of these include:
Car wash – People need to wash their cars, and rather than doing it themselves, they can pay less than they would at a car wash business and still contribute some money to a local organization. With a little effort in advertising, a weekend car wash could be a hit.
Cookout – Who doesn’t love to cook out in the summer? Host a cookout and charge a few bucks for a plate that could include a hot dog or burger, chips, corn on the cob, and a beverage. It’s great for giving people a place to hang out and to enjoy the nice weather.
Walk/run/bike-a-thon – Get people out and moving around with a walk, run, or a bike-a-thon. Simply ask people to pay a certain amount of money to give them a T-shirt and the chance to partake in the event.
Carnival – This is a larger-scale event that only should be used for large organizations, such as churches and nonprofit organizations. Get some volunteers to run games and food stands, and maybe even some live music. It’s a great way to get community members out to enjoy the company of their friends and neighbors and support a good cause.
Rummage sale or auction – People are always looking to clear out some old belongings they don’t need anymore. Ask them to donate these items, which you can then sell in a rummage sale or auction to benefit your organization.
Sporting event – Charity softball, kickball, volleyball, or soccer games can be big successes if advertised properly. They’re a lot of fun for both participants and viewers alike.
