The Best Times to Buy a New Car

If you listened to the car dealership commercials, you could walk onto a lot at any time and receive an offer for a “deal you can’t miss!” Of course, it doesn’t always work that way. There are specific times that are proven to be better for finding deals on new cars at dealerships. So, if you’re in the market for a new ride, consider shopping during these times:

END OF THE DAY — At the end of the day, salespeople want to go home, which means they’re going to be more willing to give you the deals you seek and will give you less resistance in other areas of the sale. Buying a car in the morning could easily turn into a several hour affair, so save time and money by going later in the day instead.

END OF THE MONTH — This is similar to buying a car at the end of the year. At the end of the month, dealers want to get their cars off the lot so they can maximize their earnings and qualify for bonuses from the manufacturer. Take advantage of this by heading to the dealership right as the calendar page is about to turn.

END OF THE SUMMER — The fall is generally when the next year’s new car models come in. So this August, you can expect a lot of 2013 models to go on sale, as dealerships will want to make room for the latest and greatest. You can get a brand new car for a nice discount, simply because it’s not the newest of its kind any more.

END OF THE YEAR — As the year comes to a close, car salespeople are doing everything they can to push cars off the lot to boost their revenue numbers for that year. Dealers also know that they’ll have to lower prices to reach people who have already spent lots of money on gifts during the holiday season. This is one of the best times of year to consider purchasing a new car. Who knows, maybe if you make a gift of it the dealership will throw in one of those huge bows that you see on commercials!

How many of you have purchased a new car at one of these times? Can you vouch for the savings that you can receive by doing so?
