More about you: I’m currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I started college as a biology major, on the pre-med route. And then, to the horror of my family, I switched...a lot! Art, history, and now finally, journalism.

I’m not sure why journalism wasn’t my first choice to begin with. I absolutely love writing. I can’t really limit what I want to do with my degree once college is over. I’d love to report internationally, and also someday work for publications like Spin or BUST.

Why did you start blogging?
I actually started my first blog during my senior year of high school. My friends and I thought it would be a great way to keep in touch with each other. I used to update on personal happenings, but lately it’s just become a place for me to post share-worthy articles, videos and photos.

As an intern for MoneyMix, I’m going to start blogging about my financial experiences as a college kid.

What do you think is the most important personal finance issue for our generation?
Debt, especially from student loans. I think sometimes we don’t know what we’re getting ourselves into.

What is one thing you know now that you wish they taught in high school or college?
I can think of a dozen things. The most important thing might be how to manage credit though. Until I moved to Wisconsin I didn’t realize how important credit activity was in terms of getting an apartment.

What do you do in your free time?
I just got into cooking and baking, so my friends are happy about that. I also enjoy photography, painting and spending time outside.

What are your personal financial goals?
With a year of college left and a shaky economy, I need to start saving money for a safety net.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
It’s a toss-up between Chile and Spain. I’m trying to learn Spanish and I think the best way to get a hang of the language would be to spend a good chunk of time in a Spanish-speaking country. Plus, I’ve had a couple of friends study abroad in both countries and they all had a blast.
